My Philosophy

Thank you for visiting my website.

Along with my developments, this is where I share my vision for what makes a house a home.

My approach can be summarised very simply:  creating family homes that are carbon considerate, budget conscious, and styled for your needs.

I love this quote:

“It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home”.  ~ Author Unknown

Being a busy Mum of two boys, I understand the needs of the modern family, and I endeavour to incorporate these into my developments so that each Jane Skynner home has the following characteristics.

•    Attention to detail from outside to inside.

•    Well thought out spaces conducive to modern family living.

•    High standard of fixtures and fittings.

•    Thoughtful touches that make a big difference.

My involvement in the project is total and immersive and starts with finding the site, negotiating the acquisition, working closely throughout with the architect, appointing a local quality builder, supervising tradesmen, project managing every aspect, choosing the best quality fixtures and fittings, right through to handing over the keys to the new owner.  I am involved in every decision along the way.

“A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.”

Specialising in South West London, as a local resident, I know my area and market very well.  My boys attend the local school, I’m part of the community, I work with local professionals, and I understand what families want and desire to enable them to put down roots in the area.

As a qualified interior designer, I have put these talents to good use renovating family homes, moving many times over, to satisfy my desire to inject new life into old, tired, and unloved houses, bringing  them back to life.

Building on this experience, I moved on to bespoke residential developments. I always spend time to source ideally located sites and build from new to exacting standards and create what I consider to be the ideal family home.

I have a passion for sustainable build and renewable energies, together with high standard and contemporary finishes.  However, I never forget that a home has to work on a practical level and appeal to a wide range of discerning families.  Understanding this balance is what makes a Jane Skynner home unique and special.

A home is not just four walls and a ceiling or bricks and mortar.  A home should be a secure place where you are free to enjoy your life and fulfil your potential.

According to Hindu philosophy, a home is a place that’s so magnetic that it’s difficult to leave.

I bear all these things in mind when developing a Jane Skynner home – a home I am proud to put my name to.
